Matt Burniston is at it again. Our CG Director took a stab at tracking in 3D and if you ask us, it’s not too shabby.

Remember those long summer days in the meadows, galloping across the field like Gandalf and Shadowfax, listening to the cadence of your horse’s hooves riding off into the sunset?

If not, you’re in luck. The folks here at ROKKAN have created a fun 3D world called the Equestrian Neightion Riding Academy. Here, you can experience all the great things about owning a horse without ever stepping foot on a ranch, from learning basic equestrian terms, to what types of gaits and strides you need to learn while riding.

Our in-house 3D team used Maya and Modo for all the modeling and animation and even customized our own little version of Away 3D to get the horse’s head and tail movement just right. We learned a whole lot about horses on this project, but one thing is for sure -they’re tough to maintain (even in virtual reality).

Most industry folks probably already know that Unity is the best 3D platform out there, but just doesn’t have the reach yet. We’re all hoping for the better. Senior Designer

Rokkan is looking for a Senior Designer to lead project creative working alongside AD’s and CD’s. All candidates should have at least 3-5 years of Digital Agency experience. You will be collaborating on a daily basis with strategists, producers, creatives, IA’s and developers and require strong communication skills. Illustration, photo-compositing, and 3D/Motion skills are a plus. You should be aware of technologies such as Flash, HTML5, CSS, Javascript, etc. in order to complete projects from start to finish as you work with developers. The projects at Rokkan vary from brand sites and corporate portals to mobile platforms, and require a designer who can create unique visuals for any task.

Summer Design Intern

Rokkan is looking for a summer design intern to join the creative team. Candidates should be self-motivated with a strong willingness to learn/perform. You will be assisting lead creatives on projects ranging from brand sites and corporate portals, to mobile platforms. We’ll help you refine your digital production skills and give you insight on digital studio work flow and processes. Print designers who are looking to make the shift to digital must have strong print work with some knowledge of web best-practices. Students who are learning interaction design should have a solid foundation and exceptional photoshop skills.

Summer 3D Intern

Rokkan is looking for a summer 3D Generalist to join the CG team. Candidates should be self-motivated with a strong willingness to learn/perform. You will be working with multiple applications including and not limited to: StudioMax, Modo, Maya, AfterEffects, Zbrush. Strong modelers are recommended to apply over character animators. All CG is used for web experiences. You will NOT be creating assets for broadcast or Pixar movies!
